Hi. I'm planning a trip to Montana in midJuly. I'm an experienced fly fisherman and have been there several times but this time I want to rent a car and drive around solo and fish. Cheaper hotels. I think I may go to Gardiner for a few days and fish the Gallatin and maybe in the park, float the Yellowstone once anyway. BUT I am interested in going to another river I have not been to before--maybe either the Bitterroot or the Blackfoot? I spent a week on Rock Creek once already and liked it. I'll be fishing weekdays.
Any recommendations for an area or areas with beautiful scenery, good fishing, and easy access with wading? To spend a couple days?
Also, on a side note, does anyone have any experience with the spring creeks like Nelson and Armstrong?
